About The Position

Join the Programming Foundations Team within Amazon Builder Experience as a Software Development Engineer. The Language Experience team in Builder Tools is the center of excellence for Amazon's use of programming languages, highly-leveraged shared software, and application build tools. Our tools are used in all aspects of the business, and their care and evolution are of critical importance to the effectiveness of Amazon. We're looking for a deeply technical leader interested in sustaining and evolving the shared software platform used by nearly every service within the company. Those with experience evolving broadly distributed and highly complex software libraries, such as large open source projects and mission critical foundational software stacks will be given an opportunity to have company wide impact.

Requirements

• 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
• 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience
• 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
• Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team

Nice To Haves

• 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Responsibilities

• Design and build developer tools that Amazon engineers use every day.
• Work with the languages and libraries that power Amazon's services, making them easier to use and more reliable.
• Help maintain our build tools, compilers and package managers.
• Work on our 3PSW repository mirrors.
• Collaborate with engineers across Amazon to understand their pain points and build tools that address them.
• Write code, review code from teammates, and help others debug issues with our tools.
