About The Position

The Charge Calculation team is a crucial part of Amazon's eCommerce foundation. We own systems integral to the full lifecycle of consumer purchasing on Amazon. Our team orchestrates charge calculations and provides comprehensive charge summaries to clients. We also own the model that defines charge representation in the workflow, impacting numerous up and downstream services in the purchase journey. This is high-impact work: designing solutions that balance correctness, performance, and resilience — all while the business evolves rapidly around us. Your solutions run in the critical path of every Amazon purchase, impacting hundreds of millions of customers daily. You will design and deliver systems that ensure accuracy and reliability in one of the most important domains in eCommerce. You will help drive Amazon's multi-year strategic growth initiatives, architecting solutions that don't yet exist. You will collaborate with sharp, senior engineers in a high-ownership environment where your ideas make a real difference.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience
  • 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
  • Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team

Nice To Haves

  • 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

  • Shape Technical Strategy with Business Impact: Bridge technology and business by deeply understanding customer needs, influencing the team's long-term roadmap, and ensuring engineering investments align with strategic objectives.
