About The Position

SMRTR is seeking a Software Developer with 3–5 years of experience to build product features and integrations for NG and SMRTR TRAC. The technology stack includes Vue, TypeScript, Node.js, PostgreSQL, and JVM services using Scala. Working with the Director of Software Engineering, the developer will help deliver the 2027 roadmap, including ERP integrations starting with SYSPRO, AI-powered document capture, and new NG and TRAC features. The role is part of a small, experienced team whose work reaches customers quickly. The position is fully remote and open to candidates authorized to work in the United States or Canada. Compensation is USD 65,000–85,000 in the United States or CAD 95,000–110,000 in Canada, depending on experience and location. Benefits vary by country; US benefits include health, dental, and vision insurance and a 401(k) with company match. Paid time off and company holidays are also offered.

Requirements

3–5 years of professional software development experience.
Production experience with Vue.js, TypeScript, and Node.js.
Experience with PostgreSQL schema design, SQL, and query performance.
JVM experience, preferably Scala.
Experience building REST APIs and integrating with third-party systems.
Experience with Git-based workflows, code review, and automated testing.
Clear communication with colleagues and, when needed, customers.
Authorization to work in the United States or Canada and ability to work remotely.

Nice To Haves

MongoDB experience.
Android or Xamarin experience.
ERP integration experience, such as SYSPRO, Microsoft Dynamics 365, VAI, or NCR.
Document management, OCR, or AI document capture experience.
Experience with manufacturing, distribution, or food and beverage software.

Responsibilities

Build front-end and back-end features for NG and SMRTR TRAC using Vue, TypeScript, Node.js, and Scala/JVM.
Design and work with PostgreSQL data models and queries, and some MongoDB, with attention to performance.
Fix defects and improve product reliability.
Build and maintain REST APIs and integrations between NG / SMRTR TRAC and ERP systems such as SYSPRO, Microsoft Dynamics 365, VAI, and NCR, following team integration patterns.
Contribute to AI document capture, including classification and data extraction, and the print-to-NG driver.
Turn requirements from Professional Services, Sales, and customers into working software, with guidance from engineering leadership.
Estimate tasks and deliver them by agreed dates.
Support go-lives and help troubleshoot production issues.
Write tested, reviewed, and secure code in the GitHub-based workflow with CI/CD.
Write technical documentation and release notes.
Use AI-assisted development tools to work faster and safely.
