About The Position

PURVIS Systems is seeking a Software Developer to join our product development team that is building high-reliability software for air-gapped tactical and post-mission environments. Emphasis is on individual accountability, initiative, and direct technical ownership from design through verification.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering
  • 3+ years in professional work experience.
  • Strong Java background (Spring, JUnit, JavaFX) and Gradle build automation.
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) system administration, Bash scripting, and basic Ansible automation.
  • Local application development and testing using Podman and VirtualBox; working familiarity with deploying to Kubernetes (K3s) clusters (cluster administration handled by dedicated DevOps).
  • Practical host-level Linux networking (static IP assignment, firewalld port management) and core socket fundamentals (TCP, UDP, Multicast vs. Broadcast).
  • Source control in Bitbucket (Git) and automated CI/CD pipeline usage in Atlassian Bamboo.
  • Ability to execute tasks independently and resolve system-level issues in a lean team setting.
  • Position requires a candidate holding or ability to obtain a government security clearance to the level of SECRET.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior familiarity with Submarine Warfare Federated Tactical Systems (SWFTS).
  • Experience identifying when DoD STIG policies impact application functionality.
  • Basic Python for utility scripting; C/C++ experience for legacy/low-level maintenance.

Responsibilities

  • Application Engineering - Design, maintain, and modernize Java/JavaFX tools and administrative GUIs serving remote, non-technical users across in-field and post-mission analysis environments; support migration to web-based services.
  • Testing & Simulation - Maintain, operate, and extend internal software utilities used for component testing and mission simulation.
  • Packaging & Validation - Build, containerize (Podman), and validate software locally prior to release onto edge Kubernetes (K3s) infrastructure.
  • Systems Integration - Diagnose host-level network sockets, OS behavior, and application issues within cybersecurity-hardened, STIG-compliant baselines.

Benefits

  • Comprehensive package of group benefit programs with enrollment options intended to offer flexibility – in both plan selection and level of coverage to maximize the value of your benefits as cost effective and affordable without compromising quality.
