About The Position

As a Software Developer on our Network Tools team, you'll design, develop, and deploy software applications that power enterprise network monitoring, analysis, and automation systems. You will write code to build custom tools, create API integrations, develop automation frameworks, and implement software solutions that enable network operations teams to manage complex infrastructure more efficiently. You will play a critical role in the software development lifecycle—from requirements gathering and design through coding, testing, deployment, and maintenance. We are seeking a talented Software Developer to build innovative software solutions for enterprise network monitoring and automation within a highly secure, classified environment. In this role, you will code applications that integrate with network monitoring platforms, develop microservices and APIs, create automated testing frameworks, and implement scalable software architectures. Your software will process network telemetry data, automate compliance workflows, and provide actionable insights to network operations teams.

Requirements

  • Active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph.
  • 6+ years of professional software development experience building enterprise applications.
  • Active IAT Level II certification (e.g., Security+ CE, CySA+, CCNA Security) in compliance with DoD 8570/8140.
  • Strong programming proficiency in one or more languages: Python, Java, Go, or JavaScript/TypeScript.
  • Experience with modern software development frameworks such as Spring Boot, Django, Flask, Node.js, or similar.
  • Proficiency with version control systems (Git) and collaborative development workflows (pull requests, code reviews, branching strategies).
  • Experience building RESTful APIs and working with API documentation tools (Swagger/OpenAPI).
  • Knowledge of database technologies including SQL (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB, Elasticsearch) databases.
  • Familiarity with containerization and orchestration using Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, Ansible).
  • Understanding of software design patterns and object-oriented programming principles.

Nice To Haves

  • Domain knowledge of network protocols (BGP, OSPF, MPLS, 802.1x) is a plus but not required—willingness to learn is essential.
  • Experience developing software for network monitoring platforms (Forward Networks, NetScout, OTNA, NNMi) is highly desirable.
  • Frontend development skills with React, Angular, or Vue.js for building user interfaces (desired).

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop software applications using Python, Java, or Go that integrate with network monitoring platforms (Forward Networks, NetScout, OTNA, Micro Focus NNMi) via REST APIs and SDKs.
  • Write clean, maintainable code for automation frameworks that continuously audit, assess, and remediate DoD Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) compliance across network devices.
  • Develop microservices and backend systems that consume network telemetry data, perform mathematical analysis of network behavior, and validate configurations against security policies.
  • Build data processing pipelines that ingest packet capture data, traffic flows, and optical transport metrics to support real-time network analytics.
  • Create web-based dashboards and visualization tools using modern frontend frameworks (React, Angular, or Vue.js) to display network health, compliance status, and performance metrics.
  • Implement RESTful APIs and services that enable integration between network monitoring tools, identity management systems (Cisco ISE, Catalyst Center), and cryptographic device management platforms.
  • Write automated test suites (unit, integration, and end-to-end tests) to ensure software quality and reliability.
  • Participate in Agile development processes including sprint planning, daily standups, code reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Maintain CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI, or GitHub Actions to automate build, test, and deployment processes.
  • Document code, APIs, and system architectures to support maintainability and knowledge transfer.
