Software Devoloper

LeidosReston, VA
$107,900 - $195,050

About The Position

Leidos is seeking a Mid-Level Software Developer to support a highly technical, interdisciplinary program in partnership with the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) and the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA). You will build and optimize software solutions that physically and functionally characterize hardened facilities and Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) processes. Your code will directly drive physics-based models and effects-based simulations, empowering scientific assessments and increasing overall operational efficiency. If you're looking for comfort, keep scrolling. At Leidos, we outthink, outbuild, and outpace the status quo — because the mission demands it. We're not hiring followers. We're recruiting the ones who disrupt, provoke, and refuse to fail. Step 10 is ancient history. We're already at step 30 — and moving faster than anyone else dares.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is required
  • Active TS/SCI w/ poly level clearance
  • Requires deep understanding of and ability to apply principles, theories, and concepts of technical domain and has broad understanding of other related specialty areas.
  • BS degree and 8 – 12 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 6 – 10 years of prior relevant experience. May possess a Doctorate in technical domain.
  • Proficiency in high-level programming languages (e.g., Python, C++, or Java).
  • Experience designing and managing data pipelines using modern ETL tools and processes.
  • Hands-on experience developing software within AWS cloud environments (e.g., AWS GovCloud, C2S, SC2S).
  • Direct experience handling cross-domain transfer mechanisms (e.g., CDS, guard implementations) to securely move software data between unclassified and classified networks.
  • Experience with CI/CD, DevSecOps pipelines, and modern version control (Git).

Nice To Haves

  • Specific experience with AWS data services (e.g., AWS Glue, EMR, S3, RDS).
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and rapid prototyping to support mission-critical decisions
  • Background in physics-based modeling, WMD analysis, or structural/facility engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and modernize software algorithms that convert complex scientific data into physics-based models.
  • Build backend services and cloud-native data pipelines to support large-scale effects-based simulations for WMD and hardened facility characterization.
  • Architect and maintain reliable ETL data flows to ingest massive datasets from varied scientific, engineering, and intelligence formats.
  • Implement, secure, and maintain cross-domain transfer solutions to safely move critical data across unclassified and classified networks.
  • Work hand-in-hand with scientists, physicists, hardware engineers, and defense analysts to translate vague, highly complex requirements into functional, user-friendly software prototypes.
