About The Position

Bluebird Fiber is seeking a Software Developer to translate business objectives and processes into effective software solutions. The role works with system integration teams and business stakeholders to design, refine, develop, test, and implement applications and enhancements across the business, supporting areas such as sales, installation, and customer interactions. The solutions serve internal teams and thousands of clients, with new code released weekly and an emphasis on rapid iteration and delivering a strong customer and team experience. The developer contributes to Salesforce implementations and integrations, writes server-side Python code in an established MVC framework, designs data models, and works with PostgreSQL. The role also supports Linux servers and systems, participates throughout the software development lifecycle, and helps maintain existing systems. Responsibilities include technical delivery, quality assurance, release support, documentation, and collaboration with stakeholders and developers.

Requirements

At least 5 years of experience in an information technology environment.
At least 3 years of experience with Linux systems.
At least 2 years of experience with Python, JSON, and shell scripting.
At least 2 years of object-oriented programming experience with Java or C#.
Ability to design and optimize business processes and integrate processes across disparate systems.
Experience developing web services or working with the Salesforce API, including REST, SOAP, or Metadata APIs.
Knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript (ES5), with familiarity with JavaScript frameworks such as AngularJS or React.
Experience with web applications and HTTP web services using SOAP or REST.
Experience across the software development lifecycle, including Agile, SDLC, or iterative approaches.
Strong business and technical skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts to nontechnical decision-makers.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Flexibility and ability to meet tight deadlines and adapt to changes in the environment and priorities.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Nice To Haves

Experience with PostgreSQL databases and administration.
Salesforce programming experience with Apex classes, triggers and unit tests, SOQL, Visualforce, Force.com, and Force.com Ajax Toolkit.
Familiarity with telecommunications.
A four-year college degree in business, computer science, or a related field is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

Work with business stakeholders and developers to evaluate project requirements and translate business needs into well-designed solutions.
Lead technical delivery of Salesforce implementations, including custom development and integrations, technical scope and client expectations, developer support, and test-plan execution.
Write server-side Python code within an established MVC framework to display, persist, and process business data.
Design and implement rational, performant data models and use PostgreSQL for data persistence.
Perform ongoing Linux server and systems administration, maintenance, and support.
Participate in software specification, gap analysis, and requirements analysis.
Develop and refine proofs of concept to confirm requirements.
Log, track, and manage issues, bugs, and enhancement requests.
Participate in software release and post-release activities, including end-user training and support and developing demonstrations.
Follow coding standards and create well-structured, maintainable, understandable code.
Conduct code reviews to help ensure high code quality and use of appropriate design patterns.
Follow project work plans and timelines as needs and requirements change.
Capture, mitigate, or escalate issues in a timely manner.
Ensure consistency of specifications across subsystems.
Write or review deliverables, end-user guides, and support documentation.
Self-train on new technologies as needed.
Perform additional duties as directed by the Executive Team.
