About The Position

LAUNCH YOUR SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT CAREER AT STENGER & STENGER Are you a Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related major looking to gain real-world development experience while still in school? At Stenger & Stenger, you’ll work alongside experienced software developers building applications that support a fast-growing law firm operating across 12 states. Founded in 1994, Stenger & Stenger is a technology-driven law firm specializing in creditors’ rights. We believe great software helps us better serve our clients and consumers, and we’re looking for students who are eager to learn, solve problems, and make an impact from day one. This is a year-round opportunity designed for students who can work full-time during the summer and up to 20 hours per week during the academic year. You’ll gain hands-on experience, receive mentorship from experienced developers, and contribute to meaningful projects using modern technologies. Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Expected graduation within the next 1-3 years.
  • Available to work: Full-time during summer break, Up to 20 hours per week during the school year, Able to work in office in Grand Rapids, MI
  • Basic experience with object-oriented programming through coursework or personal projects.
  • Familiarity with C#, VB.NET, Java, Python, or another programming language.
  • Basic understanding of relational databases and SQL.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Git or other version control systems is a plus.
  • Interest in desktop application development using .NET technologies.
  • Exposure to AI, machine learning, OCR, or large language models is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in designing, developing, testing, and maintaining software applications using Visual Studio (.NET) and Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Collaborate with developers, analysts, and business users to understand requirements and build effective solutions.
  • Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code following development best practices.
  • Test and debug applications to ensure quality and reliability.
  • Help document technical designs, processes, and system functionality.
  • Participate in code reviews and team meetings.
  • Research new technologies and recommend improvements to existing systems.
  • Gain exposure to software deployment, database development, and system integrations.
