SQE - Software Developer - Test

Mujin•Suwanee, GA

About The Position

As a Software Developer in Test at Mujin, you will provide test engineering and support QA infrastructure and tooling to commercialize innovative software solutions. You will help ensure Mujin systems are fit for purpose and collaborate with colleagues and stakeholders to launch products, providing remote and onsite support. The role advances quality engineering by developing QE/QA processes and leveraging test automation frameworks. Applications are performance-critical and involve autonomous interactions in uncontrolled environments; work is built, tested, and deployed in simulation and on real-world hardware as part of a dedicated team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Robotics, Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
  • Professional experience in software-driven product development for industrial automation, robotics, educational or research settings, or a similar industry.
  • Programming skills in C++ and Python.
  • Linux experience in software development.
  • Experience with networking stacks, protocols, routing, asynchronous I/O, multithreading, inter-process communication, and debugging distributed systems across service boundaries.
  • Experience with QE strategies and QA test plans for technology involving electromechanical devices and software ecosystems.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s or PhD in Robotics, Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of professional experience in software-driven product development for industrial automation, robotics, or a similar industry.
  • Background in one or more robotics software specialties: computer vision, fleet management, warehouse execution, motion planning, picking/packing, device I/O, or simulation.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and build systems for large-scale, multi-module software projects.
  • Experience with real-time systems.
  • Experience validating simulated and real hardware-in-the-loop behavior for robotic or automation systems.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute test coverage, tooling, and simulators across a multi-repository software ecosystem spanning robot control, material handling equipment integration, and fleet/mobile robot services.
  • Apply shift-left quality engineering and test automation principles to incorporate first-time-right goals into software design.
  • Set up and maintain test automation frameworks and work with senior developers to find and fix bugs faster while increasing coverage.
  • Support the design and implementation of simulators for industrial robots, material handling equipment, sensors, and warehouse management systems.
  • Review code and provide constructive feedback to improve quality and reliability.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on test planning for unit, functional, integration, end-to-end, exception/negative-case, and performance testing, including validating integration contracts and communication boundaries between control services and hardware bridge integrations.
  • Promote a disciplined, quality-first culture for timely delivery and an exceptional user experience.
  • Diagnose sources of developer friction, including release issues, production problems, and rework due to gaps or errors, and develop corrective and preventative action plans.
  • Perform other duties as required.
  • Provide remote and onsite support.
  • Travel up to 25%.
