About The Position

Syms Strategic Group (SSG) is seeking an experienced Software Developer in Test (SDET) for a full-time, 100% U.S.-based remote position supporting the Department of Veterans Affairs. This is a software development and testing role, not an SQA tester position; strong programming skills are required. The position requires U.S. citizenship and possession of, or eligibility to qualify for, a Public Trust (MBI). Candidates located in California, Colorado, Illinois, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, or Washington will not be considered. This is a W-2 position. The SDET develops and executes test plans, cases, procedures, and scripts to verify that information systems, products, and services meet organizational standards and end-user requirements. The role includes planning and leading software and IT system testing, performing verification activities, documenting and communicating results, supporting issue analysis and resolution, producing daily test metrics, and recommending improvements to procedures. The position may occasionally include other IT systems engineering activities, such as requirements, design, installation, operation, sustainment, and support. The successful candidate applies technical principles to challenging problems, independently develops practical solutions, reviews completed work against objectives, and contributes to program and project completion. The role includes frequent contact across the organization and with external customers, and may involve providing technical direction to employees and representing the organization on difficult project-related technical issues. Applicants must substantiate their qualifications in their resumes. Interviews are conducted on Microsoft Teams with cameras on, and candidates are asked to provide a LinkedIn profile link.
