About The Position

GAINSCO is seeking a Software Developer I to support the development, testing, and maintenance of high-quality software solutions that align with business goals and user needs. In this role, you will collaborate with a cross-functional team to design and deliver applications that enhance our insurance services. What does a Software Developer at GAINSCO? Design, code, test, and debug applications using modern software development practices. Review existing software and identify opportunities to improve system effectiveness and efficiency. Collaborate with developers, business stakeholders, and cross-functional partners to understand requirements and deliver business-focused solutions. Troubleshoot issues, evaluate solution options, and contribute to continuous improvement. Work in a high-accountability, team-oriented environment that values transparency, learning, and operational excellence.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or advanced technical certification is preferred.
  • 1 or more years of software development experience designing, coding, testing, and debugging software is required.
  • 1 or more years of experience with a managed object-oriented programming language, such as C#, Kotlin, Java, or similar is required.
  • 1 or more years of database development experience, such as SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or similar is required.
  • 1 or more years of experience with unit testing frameworks, such as NUnit, xUnit, JUnit, or similar is required.
  • 1 or more years of experience with Git and CI/CD pipelines is required.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to evaluate multiple solution paths.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
  • Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Curiosity, adaptability, and a self-learning mindset.
  • Ability to raise concerns early, accept feedback, and continuously improve.
  • Ability to persevere through challenges and obstacles.
  • Comfort working in a transparent, trust-based team environment.
