About The Position

The Boeing Company is seeking an Experienced Software Engineer to support its P-8 Mission Systems Software team in Kent, Washington. This role involves developing, testing, and supporting Mission Systems software for the P-8 Poseidon program, a key Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) platform for the US Navy and international partners. The team is expanding due to upcoming contract awards, offering stability and growth potential. The ideal candidate is passionate about aerospace, thrives in a collaborative, multi-disciplined engineering environment, and has experience in software design, development, and implementation for government and international programs. Critical thinking, troubleshooting, and superior judgment are essential for engineering new solutions and supporting existing capabilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Ability to obtain a Secret U.S. Security Clearance (US Citizenship required)
  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology, mathematics, data science, or computer science.
  • 3 or more years of engineering work experience in: Java (preferred), C++ or C programming language experience
  • Exposure to Object Oriented Design
  • Troubleshooting S/W issues in a complex environment
  • Linux and Windows development environments

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science and 5+ years of related work experience OR Bachelor’s Degree and 9+ years of directly related work experience OR 13+ years of related, relevant experience

Responsibilities

  • Reviews, analyzes, and translates customer requirements into initial design of software products.
  • Designs, develops, tests, and maintains mission software throughout the lifecycle that meets customer requirements.
  • Participates in lab integration, debug, and test.
  • Investigates and resolves issues identified to ensure the reliability and efficiency of software products.
  • Follows and improves software processes.
  • Executes and documents software research and development projects.
