Develop system software for a robotic diagnostic sample management and handling system, which interfaces with a variety of Siemens medical diagnostics instruments/analyzers. Develop algorithms and complex software to process data obtained from the robot sensors, bar-code scanners, user input, and LIS/LAS into scheduled actions to control the Sample Management System. Work in an interdisciplinary team of mechanical, electrical, chemistry, and systems engineers to design and implement software to achieve highly reliable near real-time performance on production hardware systems. Responsibilities include integrating multi-threaded, multi-process components into MS-windows environments. Duties encompass the range of tasks from requirements analysis, design, prototyping, coding, unit testing, integration testing, and systems testing of the software. Direct a team of software engineers in complex design, architecture and development topics to deliver software modules as per established project milestones. Serve as technical expert of the team and apply advanced technical skills to resolve complex system level problems. Up to 10% domestic/international travel required.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field
- Eight (8) years of experience in the job offered or in an acceptable alternate occupation.
- Experience developing in C# in MS Windows software development environments (Visual Studio) and .NET.
- Experience in designing and implementing multi-threaded applications.
- Development experience with interprocess communications methods such as WCF, and message queues.
- Experience in designing and implementing fault tolerant and high availability software.
- Experience in Advanced-level debugging skills in MS Windows environment (windbg, VS debugger).
- Experience using SQL databases.
- Experience using software design tools like enterprise architecture and Visio.
- Experience in configuration management such as ClearCase, TFS and bug/issue tracking tools.
- Experience using tools to improve software code quality-Klocwork, Source Monitor, and optimize test design-rdExpert.
- 5 years of experience as a lead software developer, including high level design, communicating with cross functional stakeholders, estimating software work and delivering software modules as per established project milestones.
- 5 years of experience as a Technical Lead mentoring/guiding highly technical software engineering teams.
