About The Position

KPMG's Asset Management Tax practice in Toronto is seeking early talent for a Software Developer (Co-op/Intern) role in Summer 2027. The Asset Management Digital Solutions (AMDS) team comprises full-stack developers, project managers, and technology leaders focused on tax innovation and digital transformation for KPMG Canada and its clients. AMDS develops modern software solutions using far-reaching intelligence capabilities to help organizations realize opportunities. The team operates in a fast-paced, experimental environment, fostering a startup culture within KPMG's supportive framework, and collaborates with strategic partners and tax leaders across Canada to build next-generation solutions that shape the future of tax. This internship offers authentic engagement experience with client projects, opportunities to broaden skills through KPMG's learning and development programs, and participation in national Power Up programming for leadership learning, networking, and professional development.

Requirements

  • Currently completing a degree in STEM or an associated field.
  • Experience with building applications using one or more frameworks like Vue.JS, ReactJS, Node.js, C#, .Net Core, Python, WPF etc.
  • Experience in relational and non-relational databases such as Cosmos DB, SQL, MySQL.
  • Proficient in using and designing REST APIs.
  • Commitment to putting quality first and delivering quality solutions.
  • Leveraging a reusable components library.
  • Strong knowledge of GIT.
  • Familiarity with any of the modern programming languages which could include, but is not limited to C#, SQL, Java, HTML & CSS, JavaScript frameworks.
  • Good understanding of basics of object-oriented principles and relational databases.
  • Your thought process on seeing the whole picture and not just the one object to be coded.
  • Hungry for experience, and eager to learn in a rapidly changing industry.
  • A curiosity that looks to redefine the norm and sees technology and innovation as a tool to open new doors and new opportunities.
  • Passionate and capable of delivering solutions with a high attention to detail.
  • All considered applicants must have or will obtain legal authorization to work in Canada by the start date of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Azure / SharePoint would be an asset.
  • Familiarity with AI‑enabled tools or analytics platforms is considered an asset, along with comfort in leveraging AI to enhance efficiency, generate insights, or support problem‑solving, and a demonstrated interest in how these technologies can be applied in professional settings.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and design industry-leading products for the asset management industry.
  • Write high-quality, high-performance, and maintainable code.
  • Participate in all phases of the software development life cycle and support testing and deployment of new products and features.
  • Implement best practices across the team and participate in code reviews.
  • Write and execute unit tests for your code.
  • Participate in the research and evaluation of new tools and technologies that can help drive innovative solutions for our clients.
  • Collaborate with Solution / Product Specialists, Software Engineers in drafting the functional specifications required during the software development life cycle.
