Software Design and Analysis Engineer (Experienced or Senior)
About The Position
The Boeing Company is seeking a Software Design and Analysis Engineer to join their Bombers team at Edwards Air Force Base, California. This role supports developmental ground and flight testing for the Boeing B-1B Lancer and B-52H Stratofortress programs. The engineer will work with government and industry partners to enhance the warfighting capabilities of the United States Air Force. Edwards AFB is a large installation with extensive testing operations involving aircraft, weapons systems, software, and components, as well as modeling and simulation. The company is hiring for both Experienced and Senior Level Software Design and Analysis Engineers.
Requirements
- Ability to obtain a U.S. Secret Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship.
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus in Electrical, Mechanical or Aeronautical), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement.
- 3+ years of experience with data acquisition systems and/or computer hardware interfaces.
- 3+ years of experience in software architecture and design of embedded software systems.
- 3+ years of experience in hardware or software requirements, design/development, analysis, integration, or testing/verification activities.
Nice To Haves
- 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (for Level 4).
- An active U.S. Secret Security Clearance in the past 24 months.
- 3 or more years of experience with instrumentation electrical design.
- Understanding of operating systems hardware/driver interfaces with the ability to troubleshoot hardware/driver compatibility problems within current and prior Windows Systems.
- Ability to deconstruct and interpret existing software code and ability to edit and transform it to modern standards while maintaining functionality.
- Troubleshooting and interpreting experience with C/C++, C#/.NET and Windows operating systems.
- Experience working in a Test Environment (Aircraft, Flight Line, Laboratory).
- Experience with instrumentation and data systems.
Responsibilities
- Develops and maintains code and integrates software components into a fully functional software system.
- Develops, documents, and maintains architecture, requirements, algorithms, interfaces, and designs for software systems.
- Develops software verification plans, test procedures, and test environments, executing test procedures and documenting results to ensure software system requirements are met.
- Develops, selects, tailors, and deploys software processes, tools, and metrics.
- Serves as a subject matter expert for software domains, system-specific issues, processes, and regulations.
- Tracks and evaluates software team and supplier performance to ensure product and process conformance to project plans and industry standards.
- Understands operating systems hardware/driver interfaces.
- Troubleshoots hardware/driver compatibility problems with current and prior Windows systems.
- Interprets existing software code and transforms it to modern standards while maintaining functionality.
- Works under general direction.
