About The Position

L3Harris Spectrum Superiority is currently seeking a dynamic, hands-on Build and Release Engineer for our Software Configuration Management Team. This position specializes in managing, documenting, and enhancing our organization's software programs and ensures timely software releases. The main responsibility of the release engineer is to use automation tools, like Jenkins, to increase efficiencies of building and releasing critical software. Your work will contribute directly to the security of our nation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience, OR Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience, OR minimum of 8 years of prior related experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Experience with scripting languages such as bash, python, groovy, etc.
  • Experience with Unix, Cmake, Docker (or other similar containerization tools).
  • Ability to diagnose complex CI/CD, build, and deployment issues.
  • Ability to identify root causes of build and release failures and implement fixes.
  • Ability to analyze, critique, and follow software build instructions.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to adapt to changes in the software build and release process.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance.

  • Experience with Jenkins, Artifactory, Git, Teamcenter, Collaborator, and the Atlassian Tool Suite (Bitbucket, JIRA, Confluence).
  • Experience managing development and products that include open source software.
  • Experience developing software for Department of Defense and intelligence community applications, including familiarity with AS9100D and AS9115A.

Responsibilities

  • Manage, document, and enhance the organization's software programs.
  • Ensure timely software releases.
  • Use automation tools, like Jenkins, to increase efficiencies of building and releasing critical software.
  • Perform advanced scripting and pipeline automation using languages such as bash, python, groovy, etc., to automate manual tasks.
  • Work with Unix, Cmake, Docker (or other similar containerization tools).
  • Diagnose complex CI/CD, build, and deployment issues to ensure reliable and repeatable releases.
  • Identify root causes of build and release failures and implement durable fixes in fast-paced environments.
  • Analyze, critique, and follow software build instructions.
  • Collaborate with engineering leadership, software developers, program and Systems Engineers, and the Systems & Software Quality Assurance team.
  • Communicate effectively verbally and in writing with various personnel.
  • Write software release reference materials.
  • Process software products in a timely manner, supporting programs to meet critical deadlines.
  • Adapt to changes or unexpected barriers in the software build and release process, including rescheduled deadlines.
  • Obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance.
