About The Position

Join CGI Federal's Federal Solutions Group as a Software Architecture Team Lead who will play a pivotal role in guiding the technical vision, architecture strategy, and product evolution for CGI Federal's enterprise software products, including Momentum. In this leadership role, you will oversee and support a highly skilled team of software architects responsible for designing, modernizing, and advancing CGI Federal's internal Intellectual Property (IP) solutions. You will define and drive the technology roadmap, lead critical modernization and AI initiatives, and champion engineering excellence across multiple product lines. This role requires a hands on technical leader who can operate at both strategic and tactical levels—balancing architectural oversight, innovation, thought leadership, and mentorship within a diverse team of experienced engineers. The ideal candidate brings strong interpersonal skills, thrives in collaborative environments, and excels at managing complex technical workstreams, cross functional initiatives, and client facing engagements. You will help shape organizational transformation efforts to improve SDLC efficiency, strengthen product quality, and accelerate delivery for mission critical federal systems. As a key member of our team, you'll collaborate with Product Management and agile development teams to align technical initiatives with strategic goals. You'll mentor and guide technical teams, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and creativity.

Requirements

  • US citizenship or Permanent residency is required as well as successful passing of CGI background check prior to beginning work.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in software development, architecture, or engineering for enterprise applications or platforms.
  • Demonstrated experience leading technical teams, engineering workstreams, or architectural functions in complex product environments.
  • Proven background in designing and implementing large scale, distributed, secure systems—preferably in cloud, hybrid, or modern enterprise environments.
  • Hands on experience with modernization efforts, system refactoring, platform evolution, and/or major technology transformation initiatives.
  • Strong command of modern architectural patterns, including microservices, service oriented architectures, event driven systems, and cloud native design.
  • Proficiency with enterprise technology stacks (e.g., Java/Spring, containerization tools, CI/CD pipelines, cloud platforms, API strategy).
  • Depth in software design principles, data modeling, integration patterns, and performance optimization for mission critical solutions.
  • Familiarity with SDLC best practices, engineering quality frameworks, code review standards, and development process governance.
  • Ability to define and communicate complex technical direction, evaluate solutions, and make clear trade off decisions.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor senior engineers and architects, build consensus among diverse technical contributors, and lead through influence.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage stakeholders, articulate architectural vision, and support client facing discussions.
  • Proven track record of driving alignment across product, delivery, and operations teams.

  • Advanced degree preferred but not required.
  • Experience working with US Federal Government agencies or similar environments, with an understanding of their unique requirements.
  • Background in modernizing large, legacy enterprise systems using cloud native technologies, containerization, or microservices.
  • Familiarity with DevSecOps practices, automation frameworks, and CI/CD tooling used in large scale product delivery.
  • Experience supporting implementation, operations, or client facing engagements within complex product ecosystems.
  • Exposure to AI driven engineering practices, architectural automation, or emerging technologies that improve SDLC effectiveness.
  • Proven ability to manage distributed or remote teams and coordinate across multiple product lines or workstreams
  • Familiarity with data privacy and security regulations in software systems
  • Advanced knowledge of emerging AI technologies and trends, with a passion for continuous learning and development.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and guide the architectural direction for CGI Federal's enterprise software products, ensuring alignment with long term strategy and product goals.
  • Lead development and oversight of the technology roadmap, including modernization, cloud evolution, AI adoption, and other strategic technical initiatives.
  • Provide structured leadership to the Software Architecture team, promoting consistent standards, collaboration, and continuous technical development.
  • Manage architectural workstreams across product development, implementation, operations, and client engagements to ensure cohesion and quality.
  • Partner with product, delivery, and cross functional leaders to translate business objectives into sound architectural designs and actionable technical plans.
  • Advance engineering processes and SDLC efficiency through targeted improvements, reduction of technical debt, and adoption of modern tools and methodologies.
  • Serve as a senior technical decision maker, offering clear guidance and balanced judgment during complex or high impact technical discussions.
  • Represent the architecture function in executive, client, and program forums by communicating technical direction, constraints, and recommendations effectively.
