Ready Computing•New York, NY
•$125,000 - $145,000•Remote

About The Position

The Software Architect designs and develops the architecture for Wellbase, Ready Computing’s managed services suite for healthcare and social-care organizations, and remains hands-on through implementation. Wellbase provides hosting, monitoring, analytics, and security to help keep mission-critical systems available, secure, and continuously improving. This is a player-coach role that involves designing new solutions, owning them end to end, and leading a small team. The work spans Wellbase’s agentic AI companion, Lucas; Model Context Protocol (MCP) integrations that enable governed, auditable action; policy and governance services; and environments used to demonstrate and stage products. The role calls for curiosity about emerging technologies, confidence presenting architecture and tradeoffs to executives, and a strong sense of ownership.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Software Development, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • At least 8 years of software development experience focused on enterprise-level architectures, including hands-on design and implementation.
  • Some experience building or leading agentic AI solutions.
  • Expertise in software architecture and design patterns for cloud-native and service-based enterprise systems.
  • Strong proficiency in Python and/or Java, with the ability to work across a polyglot stack.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud platforms, containers, Docker, and Kubernetes.
  • Experience designing REST APIs and distributed services.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and development tools such as Git, Jenkins, and JIRA.
  • Database design and optimization experience, primarily with relational databases such as PostgreSQL.
  • Comfort working with healthcare or other regulated data environments.
  • Ability to work at a computer for extended periods, including typing, using a mouse, and viewing a monitor throughout an eight-hour workday.
  • Ability to sit and/or stand for prolonged periods as needed, communicate effectively, focus on multiple tasks and project requirements, and occasionally travel as required.

Nice To Haves

  • Google Cloud experience.
  • Familiarity with workflow or orchestration systems.
  • Exposure to vector or search stores.
  • Familiarity with enterprise frameworks such as Spring or FastAPI.
  • Working knowledge of policy-as-code, authorization frameworks, or similar governance controls.
  • Hands-on experience with agentic AI development, including LLM-based agents, tool use or MCP, and evaluation design.
  • Familiarity with observability and monitoring technologies such as Prometheus, Grafana, and OpenTelemetry (OTel).
  • A track record of evaluating and adopting new technologies where they create practical leverage.
  • Deep healthcare-interoperability experience.

Responsibilities

  • Define technical requirements and target architecture for new platform capabilities, and remain accountable through design, implementation, and release.
  • Design and lead delivery of agentic AI solutions, including tool-using agents, evaluation approaches, and safe integration with healthcare workflows.
  • Architect and extend MCP-based services that connect agents and applications to enterprise systems, data, and licensed capabilities.
  • Own architecture for policy and governance services that control access, content decisions, and regulated use of data and AI.
  • Shape demo and staging environment architecture so new capabilities can be demonstrated reliably to customers and executives.
  • Lead a small team as a player-coach by setting technical direction, reviewing design and code, and implementing the most challenging pieces.
  • Present architecture, options, and recommendations to executive stakeholders, and take ownership of decisions and outcomes.
  • Apply CI/CD, cloud, and Kubernetes deployment practices to keep the platform releasable and operable.
  • Mentor developers and raise standards for design, security, and delivery.
  • Produce and maintain technical documentation that others can build from.
  • Design and optimize relational data stores and, where needed, vector or other specialized stores to support agents, applications, and governance.
  • Implement authorization, policy, and security controls appropriate for healthcare and other regulated data.
  • Protect confidential company information.
  • Log time each week in the company time-tracking system.
  • Complete assigned training and compliance activities in a timely manner.
  • Perform other duties and assignments as requested.
