Software Applications Specialist
About The Position
The Software Applications Specialist will provide general software application support for security-related departmental information system activities; and assists and trains staff in the operation of software applications, personal computer hardware and scanners, printers and other peripheral devices. They will also assist in the retrieval of data processing information and manage departmental data validation and data integrity processes. Washington County's Department of Facilities, Fleet and Parks is looking for a software application specialist to join the safety and security team to help create safe, welcoming, and comfortable public spaces to serve the diverse staff, citizens, and visitors to Washington County. The safety and security team is responsible for the safety and security of Washington County employees and guests while on the County campus. A key responsibility of this position will be the design, operation and maintenance of the County’s access control software.
Requirements
- One (1) year of college-level coursework in computer science or a closely related field.
- Three (3) years of experience providing computer hardware and software support.
- Applicable certifications may substitute for the education and experience requirements, may vary by department.
- Translate technical solutions into user friendly language suitable for customers with little experience with information technology.
- Patiently assist users at all levels when troubleshooting technical issues.
- Knowledge of a wide variety of network and computer hardware and software applications, including networking essentials and peripheral equipment.
- Knowledge of computer database retrieval capabilities.
- Knowledge of modern office procedures.
