About The Position

The Senior Software Application Specialist will provide front line software application and hardware support, research improvements in processes and software tools and tool usage within the Facilities Division, including submitting annual Information Technology Services (ITS) ideation requests. They will provide user training and support on existing and new software tools and processes. They will provide support to the energy management team, the HVAC team onboarding contractors for control initiatives, onboarding of new hires including the ordering of laptops and cell phones, and support access control with the safety and security team. They may be tasked with data analysis and cleanup for existing systems to make them more effective and reliable. They will coordinate with Washington County ITS on ITS and Facilities, Fleet, Fair/Westside Commons, and Parks technical initiatives. Employees at this level will be assigned tasks by the Administrative Manager of the Department. This role may require occasional travel to multiple locations within Washington County as business needs arise.

Requirements

  • One (1) year of college-level coursework in computer science or a closely related field; AND Five (5) years of experience providing computer hardware and software support (applicable certifications may substitute for the education and experience requirements).
  • Knowledge of a wide variety of network and computer hardware and software applications, including networking essentials and peripheral equipment.
  • Knowledge of data processing terminology and methodology.
  • Skill to translate technical solutions into user friendly language suitable for customers with little experience with information technology.
  • Skill to patiently assist users at all levels when troubleshooting technical issues.
  • Ability to identify, coordinate, and implement the resolution of computer software and operational problems.
  • Ability to maintain a wide variety of network and computer software.
  • Ability to effectively train staff in the use of computer system applications.
  • May be required to pass a criminal background check.
