About The Position

The MSD of Martinsville is seeking a Softball Head Coach. The mission of the MSD of Martinsville is to work together, challenge and inspire children through rich experiences, empowering them to achieve success while making positive contributions to our world. This role involves adhering to IHSAA regulations, ensuring student-athlete safety and welfare, developing training programs, monitoring academic progress, organizing team logistics, and fostering player development through a strong feeder program.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent
Basic computer or communication skills (if relevant)
Ability to work with students
Experience in schools or similar settings
Demonstrate knowledge of the sport
Experience as a head or assistant coach
Obtain coaching certifications

Responsibilities

Adhere to all IHSAA regulations, including player eligibility, transfer policies, and required training standards.
Ensure the safety, welfare, and appropriate conduct of student-athletes during all practices, competitions, and team activities.
Develop and implement comprehensive in-season and off-season training programs.
Monitor and support student-athletes' academic progress.
Organize team schedules, coordinate transportation requests, develop game strategies, and oversee equipment inventory and maintenance.
Supervise and mentor assistant coaches.
Conduct parent meetings and maintain positive communication with families.
Collaborate effectively with school administration.
Foster player development by building and maintaining a strong feeder program with the middle school.
Remain emotionally stable, exercise sound judgment, and maintain professional composure in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple responsibilities and responding appropriately to student needs and unexpected situations.
