About The Position

We are Avaanz, part of SLR Consulting (Canada), an 800+ team of advisory, environmental/engineering, and regulatory professionals across Canada. We deliver environmental and sustainability services to our clients through the integration of over 30 advisory, technical environmental, and engineering disciplines to help clients address some of their most complex challenges around sustainability. We are Making Sustainability Happen. In this position, you will be working on socio-economic projects that support the human aspect of community well-being. Many of these projects often involve a high degree of engagement with various stakeholders, agencies, and communities. You will support and/or lead a range of socio-economic and engagement assignments related to: Socio-economic studies and impact assessments, Community well-being, Reconciliation and projects which support Indigenous self-governance, Qualitative research, analysis, and report writing, Facilitation engagement and consultation programs and initiatives. You will also contribute to: Report writing, research and desktop studies, with potential for participation in some field programs, Multidisciplinary team coordination including compilation of technical documents to support regulatory submissions, Assisting with project management duties including budget, scope, and schedule tracking, Promoting and maintaining a positive work environment through a culture of teamwork and cooperation. Requirements

  • Post-secondary degree specializing in a related technical environmental discipline (environmental studies, social sciences, environmental law/policy).
  • 3+ years experience in environmental consulting.
  • 3 – 5+ years experience in an environmental consulting firm.
  • Post-secondary degree, preferably in environmental studies, social sciences, environmental law/policy or other related discipline.
  • Experience undertaking environmental and socio-economic impact assessments.
  • Knowledge of relevant government structures, legislation/policies, and understanding of Indigenous organizations/governments.
  • Experience in planning and implementing Indigenous consultation and engagement programs.
  • Experience in planning and implementing public/community/stakeholder consultation and engagement programs.
  • Ability to apply creativity and analytic thinking into client-focused solutions.
  • Experience conducting qualitative and quantitative research and analysis.
  • Experience writing reports and presenting findings.
  • Experience working directly with clients.
  • Experience managing projects and effectively delegating tasks.
  • Ability to travel within Canada periodically, as required (up to 10% of the time).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with socio-economic impact assessments and/or community engagement and facilitation is strongly preferred.
