About The Position

Under the direction of a Program Manager and as part of an interdisciplinary team, the Social Worker provides a range of screening, triage, assessment, treatment and case coordination services to a primarily adult community mental health and addiction population. The incumbent provides supervision to students in formal clinical practicums.

Requirements

• 1 year recognized postgraduate experience in community MHAS
• Bachelor of Social Work (BSW)
• Written Communication Skills
• Interpersonal skills
• Cultural competency
• Verbal communication skills
• Ability to identify, implement and evaluate areas of client difficulty.
• Knowledge of community resources including treatment programs & support agencies
• Knowledge of Recovery Philosophy
• Knowledge in various intervention strategies for individuals and groups
• Able to work independently in a self motivated manner & respond under pressure
• Knowledge and practical application of the Mental Health Services Act and Health Information Protection Act and other legislation
• Public relation skills with the ability to maintain effective work relationships
• Knowledge in various mental health and addiction and harm reduction strategies
• Exp. in mental health & addictions community outreach & crisis interventions
• Demonstrated ability to work in a multidisciplinary setting
• Ability to enter and retrieve data in computer database systems
• Ability to prepare reports in a clear, concise and timely manner.
• Must have current practicing registration with SASW.
• Valid driver's license, where required
