Social Worker - Medical Surgical Units - Days
About The Position
The Social Worker will serve the Medical Surgical Units at NewYork-Presbyterian/The Allen Hospital. The role provides psychosocial services to patients and families, coordinates discharge planning and continuity of care, and helps patients enhance their ability to cope with illness and maintain daily functioning. The position involves collaboration across key areas in a department focused on patient outcomes, research, education, and practice. This is a full-time day-shift position with hours of 8:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m. or 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. The schedule includes a weekend and holiday rotation. On-site presence is required, and employees should live within commuting distance of NYP. Travel expenses are not reimbursed.
Requirements
- Master’s Degree in Social Work (MSW).
- New York State license as a Licensed Masters Social Worker (LMSW).
- New graduate social workers must have a Limited Permit and supply an exam date before starting employment.
- New graduate social workers must obtain New York State LMSW licensure within one year of hire.
Nice To Haves
- At least one year of inpatient Medical/Surgical experience.
