This position performs intake interviews and crisis intervention procedures, as well as a broad range of psychotherapy and other counseling interventions. Clients include children and youth who are insecure, aggressive, depressed, anxious and/or withdrawn, who may live in dysfunctional families and communities and who are suicidal, traumatized, criminally offending and suffering from significant developmental disabilities. Public education and other primary prevention activities may be required as well as a range of integrated case-management services and consults with other organizations and agencies. Major challenges include managing a large and diverse caseload, developing the technical skills to deal with a broad range of presenting problems and developing the skill to accurately and succinctly document care plans and progress.
