About The Position

The Kings County District Attorney’s Office (KCDA) is seeking a Social Worker for the Bureau of Youth Diversion (BYD). The BYD oversees alternative to incarceration programs, Youth and Community in Partnership (YCP) and Project Re-Direct (PRD), serving court-involved young adults aged 18-25. These programs offer individual and group counseling, social skills training, conflict resolution, crisis management, assistance with court mandates, and referrals to community services. The Social Worker will be part of a team focused on youth diversion, managing a caseload of 15-20 clients.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Social Work from an accredited School of Social Work.
  • Valid Licensed Master of Social Worker (LMSW) or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW).
  • At least 2+ years of work experience in Social Work.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively and across disciplines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, and other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Exceptional organizational, time-management and multi-tasking skills.
  • Ability to take initiative, prioritize duties, and work both independently and within a team environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual candidates preferred.
  • Knowledge of counseling interventions with trauma victims.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain on-call availability on a 24/7 basis.
  • Conduct psychosocial assessments for PRD and YCP candidates and create individualized treatment plans for participants.
  • Provide individual as well as group therapy to participants as needed.
  • Facilitate psychosocial groups.
  • Provide case management for participants, including referral assistance for needs such as housing, food, health, financial, and home life situations.
  • Facilitate referrals for additional mental health or substance abuse treatment and family counseling as needed.
  • Conduct home visits or relevant site visits as necessary.
  • Prepare complete periodic updates with appropriate documentation.
  • Fulfill all court mandates and reporting.
  • Fulfill/assist with any regulatory compliance or grant-related compliance.
  • Provide supervision for interns and (if LCSW) other social workers as needed.
  • Develop and implement training for PRD and YCP mentors as needed.
  • Interact constructively with staff affiliated with the other diversion program (PRD).
  • Handle additional tasks as directed.
