Social Worker - Inpatient Medicine - Days - Weill Cornell
About The Position
The Social Worker supports the busy inpatient Medicine units and plays a critical role in developing comprehensive discharge plans beginning on the day of admission. The role aids in the care, development, education, and support of patients and their families, helping patients strengthen their ability to cope with illness and daily functioning. The goal is to provide high-quality medical care and transitions of care. This is a day-shift position, Monday through Friday, with rotating weekend and holiday coverage. The position requires on-site presence; employees should live within commuting distance of NYP. NYP does not reimburse travel expenses.
Requirements
- Master’s Degree in Social Work (MSW).
- New York State license as a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW).
- New hires whose NYS LMSW license is pending must have a Limited Permit and provide an exam date before starting employment; the LMSW must be obtained within one year of hire.
Nice To Haves
- At least one year of inpatient Medical/Surgical experience.
- Discharge Planning experience.
