About The Position

Provides clinical social work consultation to children who are suspected victims of child abuse and neglect. Encourages and promotes their healthy adjustment by providing case consultation and system advocacy services within a multi-disciplinary team. Recommends referrals to community agencies and programs and may also acts as a liaison with community resources and agencies.

Requirements

  • Master of Social Work (MSW) and Wisconsin Advanced Practice Social Work (APSW) certification/licensure required.
  • Minimum of one year of social work or related field experience required.
  • Experienced and skilled at developing relationships with a variety of diverse people and organizations required.
  • Demonstrated and recognized excellence in performing psychosocial evaluations and case coordination.
  • Excellent ability and skill in developing professionally appropriate relationships with children and families referred for evaluations.
  • Crisis management experience and basic counseling skills.
  • Ability to comfortably work in situations that may be potentially confrontational.
  • Knowledge in the dynamics of child abuse/neglect, and its effects on victims/family members.
  • Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Demonstrates effective and efficient organization and time management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with a team.
  • Ability to provide leadership within a team environment.
  • Ability to function independently, prioritize and manage time and to work in accordance with department practices and general directives received by the Director/Manager.

Nice To Haves

  • Hospital experience preferred.
  • Experience with the psychosocial and economic issues of children with acute or chronic illness preferred.
  • An understanding of the health care delivery system, and its impact on the patient and family preferred.
