About The Position

Reporting to the Manager of Social Work, the Social Worker provides clinical Social Work services to residents, patients and their families; participates in an interdisciplinary team; consults with health care and community agencies; participates in the Admissions Assessment team; participates in Centre and community committees; participates in professional development activities; and performs basic administrative tasks.

Requirements

  • At least two years clinical experience in geriatrics and/or health care.
  • Bachelor of Social Work degree from a Canadian Association for Social Work Education (CASWE) accredited school/faculty, or a provincially conferred post-secondary program, or the approved equivalent if internationally educated, required.
  • Must be registered with the Manitoba College of Social Workers.
  • General knowledge of Manitoba healthcare system.
  • Knowledge of theoretical basis for practice appropriate for population, program planning and evaluation, community resources for population, interdisciplinary team approach, and health and social issues relevant to population.
  • Ability to provide professional assessment and intervention.
  • Ability to interact effectively in interdisciplinary team.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to provide consultation to health and community care professionals as required.
  • Ability to practice with a high-degree of independence.
  • Ability to participate in program planning and evaluation.
  • Ability to create an organized individual working environment.
  • Thorough, flexible, reliable and cooperative.
  • Valid Manitoba driver's license and reliable vehicle required.
  • Must have a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment.
  • Must be responsible for any service charges incurred for background checks.
  • A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.
