About The Position

The Master Social Worker performs Social Services; Interviews clients and their families and coordinates and plans programs and activities to meet their social and emotional needs. Provides crisis intervention and assists families in understanding the implications and complexities of the medical situation and its impact on lifestyle. Collaborates and facilitates patient discharge plans for those requiring post inpatient care. Reassesses plan of care according to the physical and emotional needs of patient. Performs patient assessment, including looking at illness, mental status, and family dynamics. Documents relevant data accurately and in compliance with laws and regulations. Links patients and their families to appropriate community resources. Serves as patient advocate and liaison to physicians, insurance companies, and community agencies. Helps the patient and their family to understand, accept, and follow medical recommendations. Provides clinical supervision and guidance to junior social workers. Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Social Work
  • Certification in relevant specialty or field
  • Minimum 1 year of experience
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form
  • Ability to handle difficult and stressful situations with professional composure
  • Ability to maintain effective interpersonal relationships
