About The Position

The Social Worker will serve as a vital link between the Pine Bluff Police Department and the community by addressing the social, emotional, and mental needs of individuals encountered during law enforcement interactions. The Social Worker provides crisis intervention, case management, advocacy, and referrals, responds to mental health, substance abuse, domestic violence, and other social emergencies alongside police officers. The Social Worker helps stabilize individuals and connects them to emergency services and treatment, educates the public and community groups about available resources and department programs, develops individualized care plans and follow-up treatment, and assists victims, families, and witnesses by providing trauma-informed support. The Social also conducts in-service training sessions for officers on crisis intervention, mental health, trauma, and cultural competency, assists in developing protocols involving mental health, and performs all other duties assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work from an accredited institution
  • Licenses or license-eligible in the State of Arkansas
  • Two to five years of professional experience in social work, crisis intervention, or a related field

Nice To Haves

  • LCSW preferred
  • Experience in law enforcement settings preferred
