About The Position
Social Work Services at the Mount Sinai Hospital is a large department with over 450 licensed social workers across more than 65 program/service areas. The department emphasizes a holistic approach to patient care, addressing physical, emotional, and social needs. The Derald H. Ruttenberg Treatment Center provides comprehensive, patient-centered care for individuals with cancer. This specific role focuses on supporting patients within the Neuro-Oncology program, addressing their psychosocial, cognitive, and functional needs, as well as supporting their families and caregivers.
Requirements
- Licensed social worker (LSW or equivalent).
- Experience in oncology or neuro-oncology is implied by the role's focus.
- Ability to address psychosocial, cognitive, and functional needs.
- Skills in supporting patients and their families/caregivers.
Nice To Haves
- LCSW licensure is a pathway provided by the department.
- Experience in outpatient oncology settings.
- Familiarity with neuro-oncology diagnoses.
Responsibilities
- Address the complex psychosocial, cognitive, and functional needs of patients with primary neuro-oncology diagnoses.
- Support patients' families and caregivers throughout the disease trajectory.
- Collaborate within interprofessional teams to serve patients and the community.
- Provide direct care and engage in prevention efforts.
