About The Position

Under the direction of the Manager (or designate), and as part of the interdisciplinary Team, the Social Worker MSW Senior is responsible for the full scope of case management services and counselling for Herold Road patients adjusting to living with a chronic health condition. This is accomplished through collaboration with the patient, family, and other members of the interdisciplinary team. The Social Worker MSW - Senior is responsible to develop a professional therapeutic working relationship with patients and families, including an understanding of the social work role, and SHA philosophy, objectives, and policies. The Social Worker MSW - Senior utilizes a range of interventional skills from a number of theoretical models and focuses on direct patient care. Preference for this position will be given to HSAS members in accordance with the terms and conditions of the SAHO/HSAS Collective Agreement.

Requirements

  • Master of Social Work (MSW)
  • 2 years of relevant experience
  • Experience and training in Motivational Interviewing
  • Experience in a MH services environment providing psychological services
  • Experience and training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy
  • Experience and training in Mindfulness-based Therapy
  • Experience and training in Solution-Focused Counseling
  • Experience and training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
  • Advanced Assessment skills
  • Intermediate Computer skills
  • Advanced Intervention skills
  • Ability to demonstrate initiative, independent judgment & organizational skills
  • Ability to manage crisis situations in clinical areas relevant to the position
  • High level accuracy/attention to detail required in all aspects of this position
  • Knowledge in medical terminology
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability and flexibility in adapting to changing situations and environments
  • Ability to work under stress
  • Ability to work within established policies and procedures
