Hartford Hospital is seeking a Full-Time Evening Emergency Department Health Social Worker to join our interprofessional team. In this role, the social worker provides holistic, patient-centered, and family-focused care, partnering closely with physicians, nurses, and other team members in the fast-paced emergency setting. The Emergency Department Health Social Worker addresses the psychosocial impact of acute and serious illness, trauma, and injury while helping patients and families navigate complex medical and social systems. The role is central to identifying and responding to Social Determinants of Health, assessing mental health needs, supporting coping and safety, to promote continuity of care and wellbeing. This position is ideal for a clinician who thrives in a collaborative environment, values trauma-informed and equitable care, and is committed to supporting patients and families at moments of significant stress and vulnerability.

Requirements

  • Hold a master's degree from a social work program accredited by the Council on Social Work Education.
  • One to two years LMSW work experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Licensed Master Social Worker
  • Must be able to communicate effectively; effective written communication; clear expression, proper language to resonate with intended audience; constructing a logical argument; brevity; and making the intended point succinctly.
  • Computer literacy.

Nice To Haves

  • One to two years LCSW work experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English a plus.
