About The Position

This position provides professional social work, crisis intervention, counseling, referral, and program support services for the Kids First program. The program promotes positive co-parenting relationships and effective communication among families involved in divorce and paternity custody cases. The Social Worker III serves as a primary point of contact for parents, assesses family needs and crisis situations, and provides guidance on divorce-related issues, parenting concerns, and available community resources. They determine the appropriateness of program participation and make referrals to specialized services when needed. The role also evaluates requests for program exemptions and makes recommendations to the court, oversees children's program sessions, and provides consultation and direction to volunteer facilitators. Additionally, the position intervenes in emotionally charged or disruptive situations to ensure participant safety and program effectiveness. Other duties include recruiting, screening, training, and evaluating volunteer facilitators; collaborating with service providers and community partners; disseminating program information; supporting program development and evaluation; and ensuring meaningful access to services for individuals with disabilities or limited English proficiency through coordination of translation and interpreter services.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited four (4) year college or university with a bachelor’s degree which included a minimum of twelve (12) semester credit hours in courses such as social work, social welfare, criminal justice, human services, counseling, psychology, sociology, or other related social sciences.
  • Excess work experience may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis.
  • Demonstrate the ability to write clear and comprehensive reports and other documents.
  • Demonstrate the ability to read and interpret complex written material.
  • Demonstrate the ability to solve complex problems logically and systematically.
  • One and one-half (1-1/2) years of progressively responsible professional social work experience which involved utilizing a variety of social work skills and exercising professional judgement in the process of assisting individuals and their families with identifying their problems, evaluating the situation realistically, and considering resources and alternative courses of action pertinent to their needs and circumstances.
  • Experience must include conducting assessments; developing and implementing a plan of treatment programs and services; working cooperatively with other professionals, community agencies or institutions, in an interdisciplinary team; and evaluating the client’s progress and adjusting plans as appropriate.
  • Possess a current and valid driver's license to operate a motor vehicle.

Nice To Haves

  • A master’s degree in Social Work or Criminal Justice Administration from an accredited college or university qualifies for Social Worker III or one and one-half (1-1/2) years of experience.
  • A Ph.D. degree in Social Work or Criminal Justice Administration from an accredited college or university qualifies for Social Worker IV or two and one-half (2-1/2) years of experience.
