About The Position

As a Foster Care Social Worker III, you will: Provide specialized child welfare services in Foster Care, Permanency Planning, and Independent Living Services for children in DSS custody (ages newborn to 21). Work closely with families, foster parents, legal representatives, and community partners to create safe and supportive environments for children. Assess and implement intervention strategies to address medical, behavioral, and psychosocial needs. Advocate for children's well-being by ensuring compliance with state and federal policies, attending court proceedings, and developing permanency plans. Share responsibility for on-call duties, responding to urgent needs as required.

Requirements

  • Thorough knowledge of social work principles, techniques, and practices for complex casework and crisis intervention.
  • Strong understanding of family dynamics, behavioral health, trauma-informed care, and intervention strategies.
  • Ability to establish trust and build effective relationships with children, families, and community partners.
  • Excellent communication skills to advocate for children and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Valid North Carolina Driver's License and willingness to travel as needed.
  • Master's degree in social work from an accredited school of social work; Bachelor's degree in social work from an accredited school of social work and completion of the Child Welfare Collaborative (Child Welfare positions only); Bachelor's degree in social work from an accredited school of social work and one year directly related experience; Master's degree in a human services field and one year of directly related experience; Bachelor's degree in a human services field from an accredited college or university and two years directly related experience; Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and three years of directly related experience.
