About The Position

The primary purpose of this position is to provide advanced level casework, counseling and goal oriented services to adults who lack the capacity to make informed decisions about their social, mental, physical, financial, environmental well-being. These adults have been adjudicated incompetent by the courts and the Pitt County Department of Social Services has been appointed the legal guardian of the person. These adults experience multiple functional impairments in daily living, cognitive impairment and/or physical impairment that jeopardize their lives.

Requirements

Master's degree in social work from an accredited school of social work; OR Bachelor's degree in social work from an accredited school of social work and one year directly related experience; OR Master's degree in a human services field and one year of directly related experience; OR Bachelor's degree in a human services field from an accredited college or university and two years directly related experience; OR Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and three years of directly related experience.
Valid North Carolina driver license required.
DD 214 from applicants claiming military preference.

Responsibilities

Provide advanced level casework, counseling and goal oriented services to adults who lack the capacity to make informed decisions about their social, mental, physical, financial, environmental well-being.
Serve as legal guardian for adults adjudicated incompetent by the courts.
Address multiple functional impairments in daily living, cognitive impairment and/or physical impairment that jeopardize clients' lives.
Apply social work principles, techniques, and practices to complex casework, groupwork, and community problems.
Utilize knowledge of medical, behavioral, and/or psychosocial problems and their treatment theory.
Apply knowledge of family and group dynamics and intervention techniques.
Liaise with governmental and private organizations, and community resources.
Adhere to laws, regulations, and policies governing the program.
Provide casework supervision and training.
Utilize knowledge of medical terminology, disease processes, and treatment in decision-making for clinical interventions and therapies.
Establish rapport with clients and apply techniques for assessing psychosocial, behavioral, and psychological aspects of client problems.
Supervise, train, or instruct lower-level social workers, students, or interns.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, families, and various organizations (civic, legal, medical, social, religious).
Communicate ideas clearly and concisely.
Plan and execute work effectively.
