About The Position

To provide direct clinical services necessary for the care and wellbeing of children and families experiencing developmental and mental and behavioral health issues. To participate as a member of an academic multidisciplinary team serving children ages 1-26 and their caregivers.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of psychological principles and skills regarding diagnosis and treatment.
  • Ability to provide individual, group and family psychotherapy.
  • Ability to function in an interdisciplinary team.
  • Sociocultural sensitivity.
  • Ability to respond to clinical and administrative emergencies.
  • Education and/or experience in outpatient interventions in an outpatient mental health setting.
  • Master’s Degree in Social Work, Counseling or other Mental Health-related field.
  • Minimum 3000 post-graduate supervised hours and experience in an outpatient setting.

Nice To Haves

  • Appropriate experience may be substituted for education on an equivalent basis.
  • Preferred experience working with children and families with diverse ethnic, cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds, and trauma.

Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical services within the Center for Child Development outpatient clinic including diagnostic evaluations and individual, family or group psychotherapy for children and families with a diverse range of developmental and mental and behavioral health issues.
  • Triage of emergent situations, phone consultations, and the ability to negotiate healthcare and social service systems.
  • Complete intake assessments and develop appropriate service plans.
  • Maintain patient records with complete, accurate, and timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EPIC).
  • Interface with clinical faculty and staff to include psychologists, MD’s, residents, therapists, nurses, interns and support staff.
  • Communicates and closely partners with each child's established care team including parents/caregivers, school personnel, health care providers, and other identified individuals/teams.
  • Provide diagnostic consultation; maintain and participate in Quality Assurance activities.
  • Adhere to documentation requirements for all services provided and participate in clinical supervision/ consultation in compliance with all county, state and federal rules.
  • Provide safety planning and care coordination after positive suicide screens and serve as an on-site safety resource.
  • Address issues such as transition to adulthood, ABA and other therapy services coordination, serve as a liaison with school staff and other services, and assist with financial, housing, transportation and other concerns.
  • Assist families with further understanding diagnoses and implementing care plans by connecting with community supports and troubleshooting issues they may encounter.
  • Other duties as assigned.
