About The Position

Catawba County Social Services seeks a Social Worker II – Volunteer Coordinator to join the Senior Nutrition Services team. In this role, you will manage a volunteer pool of 600 or more, overseeing recruitment, training, scheduling, and coordination, while providing social work case management to participants in the Home Delivered Meals Program. If you are a creative, detail-oriented, and motivated Social Worker with a passion for working with older adults and knowledge of community resources for an aging population, we'd love to hear from you.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited school of social work; OR Bachelor’s degree in a human services field and 1 year of social work experience; OR Bachelor’s degree in a non-human services field and 2 years of social work experience
  • Valid driver’s license with a safe driving record (Driving is an essential function of this position)
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills with an outgoing personality
  • Ability to work collaboratively with team members and community partners
  • Highly creative and innovative, with comfort in trying new approaches
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to coordinate programs, manage competing priorities, and maintain attention to detail
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Knowledge of the delivery area and ability to develop maps for efficient delivery routes
  • Proficient computer skills

Responsibilities

  • Recruits, selects, trains, schedules, and manages 600 or more volunteers for the Home Delivered Meals Program, including background checks, monthly newsletters and calendars, trainings in accordance with Home and Community Care Block Grant standards, and an annual volunteer appreciation event
  • Develops and maintains driving routes for meal delivery and determines route placement for new client referrals
  • Provides social work case management for approximately 120 Home Delivered Meals recipients, including home visits and phone contacts, to maintain seniors safely at home and connect them to needed community resources
  • Maintains documentation and records in compliance with Home and Community Care Block Grant standards; conducts customer satisfaction surveys and monthly quality assurance record reviews
  • Collaborates with the team to support fundraising activities for Senior Nutrition Services
  • Provides support for any area of the program as needed, including answering phones, distributing meals, and serving as backup for the Home Delivered Meals Coordinator
