About The Position

Person County Department of Social Services is seeking a dedicated, compassionate, and skilled Social Worker IAT – In-Home Services to join our Child Welfare team. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children and families while working alongside a committed team focused on safety, stability, and positive outcomes. The starting salary will be determined with consideration given to both the candidate's educational background and relevant work experience. This is a non-exempt position working 37.5 hours weekly/1950 hours annually.

Requirements

  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and have an acceptable driving record per County policy.
  • Master’s degree from an accredited school of social work and one year of social work experience; or a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited school of social work and two years of social work or counseling experience; or Master’s degree in a counseling field and two years of social work or counseling experience; or a four-year degree in a human services field or related curriculum and three years of social work or counseling experience; or graduation from a four-year college or university and four years of experience in rehabilitation counseling, pastoral counseling or a related human service field providing experience in the techniques of casework, group work or community organization; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Within 3 days of the start of your employment with the County, you must be able to provide proof of your eligibility to work in the US.

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of Child Welfare Services Pre-Service training is preferred but must be completed prior to assignment of a caseload.
  • Building Cultural Safety, Child Development and the Effects of Trauma, CPS Assessments in CWS, Intake for CWS, Introduction to the NC Practice Standards, Legal Aspects of CW, Medical Aspects of Child Abuse and Neglect for Non-Medical Professionals, and NC Practice Standards Worker Training Series (Assessing, Communicating, Engaging and Planning) must be completed within one year of hire.
