About The Position

Promise Early Education Center is seeking a dedicated Social Worker/Family Advocate to make a difference in the lives of children. This role serves as a liaison between Head Start families and program services, focusing on building trust, case management, and connecting families with community resources to support their goals. The position involves home visits, family needs assessments, goal setting, recruitment and enrollment, record maintenance, and collaboration with other program staff. Promise Early Education Center is a premier nonprofit early learning program in Central Maine dedicated to educating the whole child and preparing them for success. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree preferred, will consider Associates Degree
  • Must hold a valid Maine Driver's License with reliable transportation
  • Case Management experience preferred
  • Ability to keep accurate documentation and up to date.
  • Attention to detail is imperative.
  • Reliable transportation is required.
  • Ability to work as a team.
  • Ability to be a self-starter with initiative.
  • Must be detail oriented with the ability to work independently and collaborate with outside resources.

Nice To Haves

  • College Degree in Social Work, Social and/or Behavioral Sciences, Human Services, Social Services, Advocacy or other related degree.

Responsibilities

  • Works as a liaison between Head Start families and program services.
  • Builds trust, provides case management, and connects families with community resources to support their goals.
  • Conducts home visits.
  • Performs family needs assessments.
  • Assists with goal setting.
  • Handles recruitment and enrollment.
  • Maintains records.
  • Collaborates with other program staff like teachers.
  • Provides support focused on individual families' needs in health, education, nutrition, and social services.
  • Keeps accurate and up-to-date documentation with attention to detail.
  • Maintains caseloads with children ranging from 0-5 years as well as prenatal mothers.
  • Positively influences and interacts with the child's/children while maintaining a strong understanding of safety/quality of service.
  • Provides an effective and trusting relationship with children and families that creates a positive and receptive learning environment.
  • Develops individualized support plans per the family and child's/children's needs.
  • Records home visits and socialization attendance.
  • Advocates for children and families and provides guidance and goal setting support for family success.
  • Provides ongoing support and crisis interventions through direct services as needed.
