About The Position

Social Work Services at the Mount Sinai Hospital is a large department within a 1,134-bed facility that offers comprehensive social work services and programming to diverse populations. The department emphasizes the physical, emotional, and social needs of patients and their care partners, with social workers collaborating within interprofessional teams on both micro and macro levels. Founded in 1907, it is one of the oldest hospital social work departments in the nation, employing over 450 licensed social workers across more than 65 program/service areas. Employment offers a pathway to LCSW licensure and access to continuing education and professional development. The Mount Sinai Center of Excellence in Eating and Weight Disorders is a comprehensive program offering specialist care, novel treatment development, and education/training for individuals and families who need outpatient therapeutic support. The program focuses on brief, intensive interventions to help patients achieve and stabilize a healthy weight, normalize eating patterns, and improve overall functioning. It utilizes a mix of in-person and virtual interventions.

Requirements

  • NYS LMSW or LCSW.
  • Experience providing direct clinical care to kids, adolescents, adults and caretakers.
  • Ability to assess needs and coordinate resources within hospital and community networks for effective management of patient care.
  • Excellent verbal, written, collaborative, clinical and organizational skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with providing services to those with eating and weight disorders.
  • Experience providing individual, group, and family therapy.
  • LCSW preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support the existing multidisciplinary team in co-leading groups for adolescents and parents.
  • Provide psychotherapy for patients through the Center.
  • Contribute to the larger mission of the Center of Excellence in eating disorders aimed at integrating research into all levels of clinical practice.
  • Participate in administrative and clinical duties that these acutely ill patients require.
