This position provides professional mental health services to inmates at the San Carlos Correctional Facility. The role involves conducting evaluations, diagnostic assessments, and clinical interventions. The Social Worker/Counselor II will also provide group, brief, and individual therapy, as well as crisis intervention. A key responsibility is ensuring accurate mental health needs levels are recorded in the Information System. The position requires participation in a 24-hour Mental Health On-Call Rotation and ensuring emergency and non-emergency transfers for inmates with acute mental health needs. The role also involves providing clinical direction to non-clinical staff, ensuring continuity of care through referrals and documentation, and maintaining comprehensive inmate mental health records through accurate and timely documentation. The individual will monitor inmate treatment, listen to concerns, and provide counseling. Safety and security of the clinical and correctional environment are paramount, requiring conscientious observations and contraband control. The position also involves reporting safety and security violations and attending assigned training programs, including self-defense courses.
