About The Position

Mayo Clinic Florida is seeking a compassionate and skilled social work professional to join our team in a crisis response position. The successful candidate will have a passion for assessing and planning with patients experiencing a mental health or safety crisis. Demonstrated experience in crisis assessment, intervention, risk evaluation, and the development of effective safety plans is highly desired. This role requires strong clinical judgment, excellent communication skills, and the ability to engage patients and families during challenging situations. The ideal candidate will be committed to providing patient-centered care, collaborating with interdisciplinary teams, and supporting positive outcomes for individuals in need of behavioral health intervention and support. This outpatient social work position is a member of highly skilled, professional, and supportive social work team.

Requirements

  • Master of Social Work (MSW) degree
  • Two years supervised therapy experience in behavioral health and/or medical social work including diagnostic assessment, individual, group, and family therapy.
  • Florida LCSW/LICSW license to practice independently at the clinical level as required by applicable state requirements.

  • A detailed equivalency evaluation is required, demonstrating a U.S. equivalent degree. Evaluation must be completed by an organization listed as a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) (www.naces.org) or the Association of International Credential Evaluators, Inc. (AICE) (www.aice-eval.org).

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrated experience in crisis assessment, intervention, risk evaluation, and the development of effective safety plans is highly desired.
  • Clinical experience with population to be served is preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of mental illness, personality development, and the types of treatment, and skills in conducting individual, group, and family therapy.
  • Knowledge of adjustment to medical diagnosis and chronic disease.
  • Strong communication skills to interact with patients, patients' family members, consultants, residents, hospital personnel, community agencies, and other resources.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both verbal and written form.
  • Psychosocial diagnostic skills.
  • Internal candidates must also attach their three most recent performance appraisals.
  • Internal candidates who have not met their current department's 1- or 2-year commitment, must attach an early release from their current supervisor.

Responsibilities

  • Conducting diagnostic assessment, determining clinical interventions, facilitating crisis intervention and short-term psychotherapy, and provides education for patients and their families.
  • Communicating effectively verbally and in writing while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and external support systems.
  • Participating in the development and implementation of the treatment/transition plan.
  • Functioning as an interdisciplinary team member.
  • Functioning within the research, practice, and education shields at Mayo Clinic.
  • Complying with required standards for medical/legal responsibilities and serves as a resource to other allied and administrative staff within the section of Social Work and the Department of Nursing.
