About The Position

Étoile Academy Charter School, an independent K-8th grade charter school in Houston, is seeking an ambitious, smart, and high-capacity individual to join our team as our after school social worker. The after school social worker supports the social, emotional, behavior and academic growth of students. They recognize and address any social, emotional, and behavioral concerns that may get in the way of a student’s academic progress. This position furthers the mission of Etoile Academy because it helps ensure that all students have a safe environment to learn during our after school programming.

Requirements

  • Accomplished professional experience in one or more of the following settings: PK-12 schools, early childhood centers, out-of-school-time programs.
  • Master’s degree in school psychology, social work, psychology, counseling or related field.
  • Must hold one of the following license types: LPC-I, LPC, LPC-S, LMSW, LCSW, or LMFT or TEA School Counselor Certification.
  • Demonstrated facility with utilizing data to inform programmatic decisions.
  • Believes and is committed to our mission and being an agent of change: that all students are capable of getting to and through college.
  • Has demonstrated effective outcomes and results, and wants to be held accountable for them.
  • Has a propensity for action, willing to make mistakes by doing in order to learn and improve quickly.

Responsibilities

  • Promote student success, provide preventative services, and respond to identified student needs by implementing a comprehensive developmental school mental health program that seeks to meet the needs of the whole student.
  • Develop and facilitate programming that effectively removes barriers to learning and equip students with the necessary tools needed to navigate their educational experience and beyond.
  • Develop, coordinate, and facilitate comprehensive mental health programming for after school.
  • Provide direct support to students, coordinate resources for families, coordinate data-driven interventions and programming, and facilitate professional development for staff and parents.
  • Select and administer age-appropriate assessment methods and materials in order to determine the needs of the student.
  • Develop and implement direct intervention strategies for students, teachers, and families to resolve stressors and remove barriers that interfere with student success.
  • Conduct specialized individual and group counseling sessions to address specific emotional, social, and behavioral needs of students.
  • Mobilize and coordinate community resources for students and families to address academic, behavioral, emotional, and social needs.
  • Develop and create strategies for parents, teachers, and students on instructional and behavioral issues.
  • Develop and build community agency partnerships with service providers to expand resources available to students and families.
  • Provide crisis management services, including assessing for safety.
  • Advocate for student services and students’ best interests.
  • Provide case management services including, but not limited to, referrals to community resources, collaboration with other professionals.
  • Provide training and workshops to teachers, school staff and parents.
  • Serve as a liaison between the student, home, school, private counseling facilities and community resources such as social services, court services, and family service agencies.
  • Track and analyze data on student success through a variety of Etoile softwares.
  • Other duties as assigned to support the mission of Etoile and after school programming.
