Comprehensive Healthcare offers internship and practicum placements for students in clinical-focused academic programs. Placements are considered only for students whose undergraduate or graduate degree program requires an internship to graduate. Students in counseling or social work programs are prioritized; students in other related disciplines may be considered when space is available. Internships are hosted at the organization’s five campuses: Ellensburg, Walla Walla, Yakima, Sunnyside, and the Tri-Cities. Availability depends on the requirements of the student’s internship program as determined by their university. Treatment areas offer different experiences and learning opportunities, and applicants should consider their interests, career goals, and program requirements when choosing programs. The application process includes submitting an online application and relevant documents. HR reviews applications for factors such as geographic location, supervision requirements, and timeframe. Potentially suitable applications are forwarded to relevant supervisors for interviews. For selected students, HR coordinates the required paperwork and agreements and conducts a criminal background check. Once placement details are confirmed, students complete an onboarding day before starting. Onboarding generally takes place on a Monday at the main Yakima facility, with some flexibility for students who cannot travel. Available placements vary by campus and program. Yakima: Acute Care Services (master’s or bachelor’s), Adult Outpatient (master’s), Youth Outpatient (master’s), Community Support Services (master’s, bachelor’s, or SUDPT), Corrections (master’s or bachelor’s), Detox & Crisis Triage (bachelor’s), Diversion (bachelor’s), First Responder Field Response (master’s or bachelor’s), MST (master’s), New Journeys (master’s or bachelor’s), PACT (master’s, bachelor’s, or SUDPT), WISe (master’s or bachelor’s), and Youth Mobile Outreach (master’s or bachelor’s).
