About The Position

East Side House (ESH) is a community resource serving the Bronx and Northern Manhattan. ESH’s Social Services programs align with our mission by providing high-quality programs and services through community-based programs and school partnerships. The Social Work Supervisor provides cross-site leadership and oversight of social work and case management services across assigned residential properties. The Supervisor is responsible for staff supervision, practice guidance, quality assurance, complex-case consultation, and ensuring consistent, person-centered services that promote housing stability and long-term well-being. Working closely with Social Workers, Lead Social Workers, Case Managers, program leadership, property management, and community partners, the Supervisor supports effective service delivery, appropriate case escalation, documentation standards, staff development, and coordination of resources across sites. The Supervisor also monitors emerging resident needs, service trends, and program performance to strengthen service quality and inform continuous improvement.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited institution required.
• Minimum of 3–5 years of post-graduate social work experience, preferably working with individuals and families experiencing homelessness, housing instability, poverty, behavioral health needs, or other complex social service needs.
• Experience with case management, crisis intervention, trauma-informed care, and community-based service delivery.
• Strong knowledge of New York City social services systems and available community-based resources.
• Demonstrated ability to provide effective staff supervision, case consultation, coaching, and performance guidance.
• Strong communication, documentation, organizational, problem-solving, and interdisciplinary collaboration skills.
• Ability to balance supportive supervision, accountability, program quality, and participant-centered practice.

Nice To Haves

• Minimum of two years of supervisory or leadership experience strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide cross-site supervision and practice oversight for Social Workers, Lead Social Workers, and Case Managers, ensuring consistent implementation of the resident service model across assigned properties.
• Provide regular individual and/or group supervision, coaching, case consultation, and professional development to strengthen staff practice, performance, and accountability.
• Support Social Workers and Lead Social Workers in managing higher-acuity caseloads, complex resident needs, crisis situations, and appropriate service planning and intervention.
• Serve as the primary escalation point for complex cases, significant safety concerns, crises, and other situations requiring additional consultation or organizational response.
• Review case documentation, assessments, service plans, referrals, and other records to support quality, timeliness, confidentiality, and compliance with agency and program expectations.
• Establish and reinforce case assignment, triage, referral, and escalation protocols to ensure residents receive the appropriate level of support from Case Managers, Lead Social Workers, Social Workers, or external providers.
• Monitor caseload distribution, resident acuity, staff capacity, and service utilization across sites and recommend adjustments as needed.
• Coordinate staff training and development based on identified practice trends, performance needs, and service gaps to support continuous quality improvement.
• Develop and maintain relationships with internal partners, community-based organizations, and other service providers to strengthen referral pathways and access to resources.
• Support coordination across sites to ensure residents have equitable access to services, resources, workshops, and other opportunities.
• Participate in program planning, implementation, reporting, meetings, and other activities necessary to support the overall housing stabilization initiative.
• Communicate significant programmatic, staffing, safety, partnership, or service-delivery concerns to designated ESH leadership and support appropriate resolution.
• Provide direct support or short-term case intervention in exceptionally complex or high-risk situations when additional social work expertise is needed, while maintaining the Supervisor’s primary responsibility for staff supervision, practice oversight, and service quality rather than a routine caseload.
• Provide leadership in developing, implementing, and maintaining consistent social services practices, workflows, documentation standards, referral pathways, and quality expectations across assigned sites.
