About The Position

Performs a variety of supervisory, program management, education, and clinical activities in the Social Work department. This role oversees daily operations, leads performance improvement initiatives, develops educational programs, and performs clinical care including patient evaluation, treatment, discharge planning, and interdisciplinary care coordination. The position also involves standard supervisory responsibilities such as personnel management, task coordination, providing guidance, fostering teamwork, and ensuring compliance with departmental policies and regulatory standards. The work environment is indoors in a patient care setting, and the position requires medium physical exertion.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in social work.
  • Current unrestricted license as a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
  • A minimum of 3 years clinical experience in Mental Health Counseling or Social Work, preferably including experience with Medical Social Work.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability.
  • Strong interpersonal skills. Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with people.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft office products.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees daily operations in the Social Work department.
  • Assures clinical caseload assigned equitably amongst staff.
  • Coordinates and assigns staff schedules, assuring daily operational needs are met.
  • Leads Performance Improvement Initiatives, identifying opportunities for improvement, assuring compliance to standards and patient/customer satisfaction.
  • Develop Social Work onboarding initiatives as well as strengthen partnerships with Universities that have MSW programs to build out pathways for field placements and pipeline for Social Work growth.
  • Prepares and presents reports as directed.
  • Acts as team leader, facilitator or member for own clinical areas and interdisciplinary initiatives as assigned.
  • Assures that own clinical divisions comply with departmental policies and meet accreditation, regulatory and quality standards for clinical care delivery and documentation.
  • Evaluates existing programs and identifies improvement opportunities to assure high quality and cost-effective practice.
  • Collaborates with Social Work and Social Work Management to ensure Social Work practice is consistent with clinical practice where appropriate.
  • Create and build educational programs for Social Work Department, including continuing education and applying for applicable credits, creating an onboarding process and ensuring compliance with all annual requirements such as FIT testing, licenses, and other necessary certifications.
  • Performs clinical care, including patient evaluation, treatment, discharge planning and interdisci-plinary care coordination in Social Work Department.
  • Completes clinical documentation and other activities as described in staff job descriptions.
  • Supervises assigned personnel including performance evaluations, scheduling, orientation, and training.
  • Makes recommendations on employee hires, transfers, promotions, salary changes, discipline, terminations, and similar actions.
  • Resolves grievances and other personnel problems within position responsibilities.
  • Coordinates the assignment of tasks and helps resolve technical and operational problems.
  • Evaluates the impact of solutions to ensure goals are achieved.
  • Provides effective direction, guidance, and leadership over the staff for effective teamwork and motivation and fosters the effective integration of efforts with system-wide initiatives.
  • Encourages and supports diverse views and approaches, demonstrates Standards of Respect, and contributes to creating and maintaining an environment of professionalism, respect, tolerance, civility and acceptance toward all employees, patients, and visitors.

  • Ensures compliance with regulatory agencies such as Joint Commission, DPH (Department of Public Health) (Department of Public Health), etc.
  • Develops and maintains procedures necessary to meet regulatory requirements.
  • Ensures that department complies with hospital established policies, quality assurance programs, safety, and infection control policies and procedures.
  • Ensures adequate equipment and supplies for department.
  • Develops and maintains established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives.
  • Ensures compliance with all health and safety regulations and requirements.
  • Performs similar or related duties as required or directed.
