About The Position

Franklin County is seeking a compassionate, steady-handed leader to guide our dedicated Social Services team as a Social Work Supervisor III. This role is central to ensuring that children, families, and vulnerable residents receive the highest standard of care. The primary purpose of this position is to directly supervise social workers in the out of home portion of the Children’s Services Division. This supervisor is responsible for directly supervising the casework of social workers who carry a Permanency Planning/Adoption caseload and social workers responsible for foster/adoptive home licensing and recruitment. The supervisor is available after hours as needed and on a rotating basis to provide supervision and consultation to on call social worker for the agency. The employee will manage emergency shelters during times of disaster and serves as a member of the agency leadership team.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in social work from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of directly related experience; OR a bachelor’s degree in social work from an appropriately accredited institution and three years of directly related experience; OR a master’s degree in a human services field from an appropriately accredited institution and three years of directly related experience; OR a bachelor’s degree in a human services field from an appropriately accredited institution and four years of directly related experience; OR a bachelor’s degree from an appropriately accredited institution and five years of directly related experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must possess a valid North Carolina driver's license upon hire.

Responsibilities

  • Supervising permanency planning/adoption social workers.
  • Ensuring that social workers work towards timely permanence for the children in agency custody.
  • Guiding staff in casework as it relates to child protection, appropriate placement and needed services.
  • Ensuring that all NC General Statutes, administrative code, policies and federal laws are followed in both practice and administrative functions.
  • Ensuring that casework practice is appropriate and goal oriented and that all case documentation is accurate and up to date in the NC FAST system.
  • Interacting with attorneys, judges, guardians at litem, and other court officials in ensuring the timely establishments of permanence for children.
  • Supervising the foster home licensing and recruitment social worker.
  • Guiding the foster home licensing and recruitment social worker in recruiting families from the community to foster and adopt children, including required training and licensure requirements.
  • Reviewing and approving all adoptions including agency, relative and independent adoptions.
  • Rotating after hours on call supervision of on call social worker for the agency and in absence of CPS Supervisor, may act as back up.
  • Screening and assigning cases of abuse, neglect or dependency.
  • Staffing these cases with social workers to assess a child’s risk or harm in the home and take appropriate legal steps if necessary, to protect the child.
  • Completion and monitoring of monthly, quarterly and yearly reports related to permanency planning and adoptions for the agency.
  • Managing monthly foster care billing and reimbursement process.
  • Directly responsible for work evaluations and discipline of social workers in the permanency planning unit.
  • Promoting and interpreting professional standards and ethics of conduct to staff.
  • Serving as representative in agency, community boards, and task forces.
  • Working with Program Administrator to create staff development and growth.
  • Responsible for special projects and duties as assigned.
  • Managing emergency shelters during times of disaster.
