About The Position

The primary purpose of this position is to supervise cases where there has been a substantiation or finding of in need of services due to child abuse, neglect, and/or dependency, and there is a need for In-Home Services. The CPS In-Home Services unit consists of five Social Worker I/A&T positions that provide services to families that have been substantiated or found in need of services for child abuse, neglect and/or dependency. This unit is specialized in that the Social Worker I/A&T's primary function is to assess the continued need for Child Protective Services and provide the necessary instruction/guidance/mentoring/modeling to the family on strategies to improve the parenting and strengthening of family skills, in order to resolve the issues that resulted in the substantiation or a finding of services needed of abuse, neglect and/or dependency.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of methods and principles of casework supervision and training.
  • Considerable knowledge of social work principles, techniques and practices and their application to specific casework and community problems.
  • Considerable knowledge of behavioral and socioeconomic problems and their treatment and governmental and private organizations and community resources.
  • Considerable knowledge of the laws, regulations and policies which govern social work programs.
  • Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely and to plan and execute work effectively.
  • Master’s degree in social work from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of directly related experience; OR a bachelor’s degree in social work from an appropriately accredited institution and three years of directly related experience; OR a master’s degree in a human services field from an appropriately accredited institution and three years of directly related experience; OR a bachelor’s degree in a human services field from an appropriately accredited institution and four years of directly related experience; OR a bachelor’s degree from an appropriately accredited institution and five years of directly related experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Valid North Carolina driver's license required.
  • DD 214 is required from applicants claiming a military preference.

Responsibilities
